Hunterdon County Polytech Continuing Education is offering two new courses in Construction Trades, Basic Woodworking starting in February and Do-it-Yourself Home Repair starting in April.
A great complement to these new courses is the always popular Upholstery course that also starts in February.

New! Basic Woodworking will give students a general understanding of the tools, materials and construction techniques involved in the fabrication of a wooden project.
Students will learn to set up, use and maintain power tools and shop safety procedures. On the first night of this course, students will choose to make either a caddy, two-tier bookshelf or night light . All necessary materials for the project will be purchased by the student. 12 sessions begin February 3rd and are on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6PM to 9PM. Course # C205, Cost is $280 plus cost of materials.
Upholstery is a popular course that introduces basic upholstery techniques for the antique dealer and for the beginner who wants to jump start their knowledge of traditional upholstery skills and tools. In 12 evenings, experienced upholsterer Paul Renaldo, will help students upholster a piece of their own furniture. Students will learn the tools and techniques for stripping, webbing, padding, reapplying fabrics, and finishing touches. Students will be responsible for the cost of materials for their small piece of furniture to be reupholstered and brought in the first day of class. Enrollment is limited to 8 students. Course # C521 on Mondays or C523 on Thursdays; Cost, $360, plus cost of materials.
New! Do-it-Yourself Home Repair In the current economic climate, with many homeowners feeling too cash-strapped to pay someone to do their home repairs, Hunterdon County Polytech Continuing Education is offering a 12-hour course for just $180. Do-it-Yourself (DIY) Home Repair course enables men and women to learn a range of common DIY repairs around the house. This course assumes no prior knowledge and covers repairs such as installing, repairing and spackling drywall, basic tiling installation and grouting and cutting and installing interior trim work. Students may request a specific home repair skill and must provide their own safety glasses. The course will be held on Mondays from 6 - 9 pm beginning April 7th. Course # C207, Cost, $180.
