The volunteers at Meals On Wheels are not only the most important jobs, but many volunteers will tell you that its also the most fulfilling. Meals On Wheels staff would also agree. Each year approximately 1,000 volunteers give their valuable time to Meals On Wheels of Northampton County. This includes meal deliverers, grocery shoppers, grocery order takers and other office volunteers.
Whether you can volunteer two days a week or two days a month, your help is deeply appreciated! See the below list of volunteer duties that may interest you. For more information on how you can become a Meals On Wheels volunteer call (610) 691-1030 or fill out our on-line form:
(MEALS ON WHEELS OF NORTHAMPTON COUNTY ON-LINE VOLUNTEER FORM)
You will then be contacted by a Meals On Wheels Volunteer Specialist. We currently have volunteer opportunities in the following areas:
Drivers
Use
your own vehicle to deliver meals to clients within a specified
geographical area (10:30 AM to 12:30 PM).
Runners
Be
the person who takes the meal from the car to the client (10:30
AM to 12:30 PM).
Care Callers
Phone
our clients from your home to check on them on those days during
the winter or holidays when meals are not delivered. (Clients
receive "Blizzard Bags" at the beginning of the winter -
shelf-stable meals that they reserve for days like this.)
Grocery Shopping Service
Take
a client's grocery order over the phone … go shopping … and
deliver it directly to their home. This is ideal for volunteers
who cannot volunteer during the day. Grocery shopping may be done
during the day or early evenings.
Corporate Teams
Are
you looking for a team-building experience for your employees?
Can your workplace spare a few hours each month? Delivering meals
as a corporate team is an excellent way to give back to the
community.
And, keep in mind - as a Meals On Wheels volunteer, you will be helping not only your neighbors in need, but yourself. The personal rewards, such as giving back to the community and interaction with other great volunteers and clients, are just a few of the many benefits!
