New Tinnitus Treatment Guidelines
The American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery foundation recently published new guidelines for the evaluation and managment of tinnitus. Some highlights include:
- Recommendation for a thorough medical examination including a hearing test
- Several treatment approaches including hearing aids, sound therapy, and counseling are effective for many tinnitus sufferers
- There is no research to support the effectiveness of various over the counter supplement or pills in reducing tinnitus
