Five years ago, Paul Shields decided there was a need for a skate park in the Flemington area. So he opened one over on Royal Road. He and manager Aaron Graf built up quite a following of skaters--from toddlers to seniors. The operation is called Shields Skatepark.
Paul Shields was already running his highly successful Shields Gymnastics located on Bartles Corner Road. Here, athletes of all stripes came to the flagship operation, and it has been a community destination for many years.
Now, the two operations are being consolidated at a single new headquarters building on Minneakoning Road. The Shields Skatepark will move first--current operations on Royal Road will continue until May 31. The move will take several weeks, but patrons will be able to follow the move in a series of videos on the website.
