Tom and Patty Bay began their business in the fall of 2003, Anita's Angels, Inc. Gaining inspiration through Tom's mother* Anita's recent battle with cancer and learning by performing the many facets of care giving them selves. They chose to make a positive impact on what was obviously a glaring need; affordable reliable in-home care for seniors. They believe every senior should have the opportunity to stay in their home, with their independence and dignity intact, for as long as possible. Thus they became members of a national senior care organization. The Seniors Choice. Based in California it provides its members with a combination of ongoing training and consulting with a proven formula for success.

The Augustus Family Picture

Community Bands Together to Help a Local Family in Need

In fall of 2008, Paul Augustus' life was drastically changed when, during routine home maintenance, he fell from a ladder and was paralyzed from the waist down. Since this time, Paul, his wife, and their two young children have struggled to adjust to the changes that this tragic accident has brought to their lives. Fortunately, Paul's faith, supportive family and friends, and positive outlook have helped him through this difficult period.

An enormous challenge that faces them is whether or not they can remain in their home that rests within the community that has helped them through this extremely difficult time. In order for the Augustus family to stay in their home, they will need to adapt countertops, cabinets, and washrooms so that they are wheelchair accessible. They will also need to install an elevator that runs from the basement to the bedrooms upstairs for Paul to have full access to his home. As you can imagine, these changes will be expensive.

Paul is determined to continue to participate fully in his children's lives whether it is playing with them during the day or tucking them into bed at night. These are the small joys that we all take for granted.

Physical limitations can be overcome with creativity and the help of the community. Paul's incredible outlook on life inspires us, Paul's community, to join together to make the seemingly impossible, possible. As such, Paul's family, friends, and community members are confident that with time and commitment we can raise the funds needed to help the Augustus family overcome their first major obstacle-making home, homey once again.

To help alleviate the financial burden that they are facing, the community has formed The Paul Augustus Support Fund, A Community Working Together  and will be hosting a golf outing at Copper Hill Country Club in Flemington on Monday, July 20, 2009.  There are several ways in which you can show your support for Paul:

Please join us on July 20th with the Augustus Family for a Hunterdon County Family Fun Day. All proceeds will go to the renovation of the Augustus family home.
