 Donations for Doris

One of our beloved, caregivers, Doris Opena, is battling cancer and Anita's Angels is asking for your help!

Doris has been working for Anita's Angels for over 2 1/2 years and has been nothing less than exceptional for our company and our clients. Through her wonderful character, sincere compassion, and kind heart she has been able to help many of our clients remain comfortable and happy over the past few years. Throughout her life, she has held many positions in the human services sector ranging from an Elementary School teacher in the Phillipines, a cook to the Brazilian Ambassador, a nursing assistant and finally as a companion aid with Anita's Angels. As you can see, Doris has dedicated most of her life to helping others. Now she needs your help!

This past week we found out that Doris has been diagnosed with Cancer. Her medical costs will be more than she can possibly afford. Because Doris has helped so many with her loving compassionate heart, Anita's Angels is reaching out to the community and asking for you to find it in your heart to help Doris with her medical costs. If you would be kind enough. please make yor donations payable to :

Community Bands Together to Help a Local Family in Need

The Augustus Family Picture

Community Bands Together to Help a Local Family in Need

In fall of 2008, Paul Augustus' life was drastically changed when, during routine home maintenance, he fell from a ladder and was paralyzed from the waist down. Since this time, Paul, his wife, and their two young children have struggled to adjust to the changes that this tragic accident has brought to their lives. Fortunately, Paul's faith, supportive family and friends, and positive outlook have helped him through this difficult period.

An enormous challenge that faces them is whether or not they can remain in their home that rests within the community that has helped them through this extremely difficult time. In order for the Augustus family to stay in their home, they will need to adapt countertops, cabinets, and washrooms so that they are wheelchair accessible. They will also need to install an elevator that runs from the basement to the bedrooms upstairs for Paul to have full access to his home. As you can imagine, these changes will be expensive.

Paul is determined to continue to participate fully in his children's lives whether it is playing with them during the day or tucking them into bed at night. These are the small joys that we all take for granted.

Physical limitations can be overcome with creativity and the help of the community. Paul's incredible outlook on life inspires us, Paul's community, to join together to make the seemingly impossible, possible. As such, Paul's family, friends, and community members are confident that with time and commitment we can raise the funds needed to help the Augustus family overcome their first major obstacle-making home, homey once again.

To help alleviate the financial burden that they are facing, the community has formed The Paul Augustus Support Fund, A Community Working Together  and will be hosting a golf outing at Copper Hill Country Club in Flemington on Monday, July 20, 2009.  There are several ways in which you can show your support for Paul:

  • 1. Sponsorship of a golf hole or a prize hole. Your name or business name will appear on a sign posted at one of the holes and will appear in the program for the event.
  • 2. Sponsorship of Lunch, Dinner or the Beverage Cart. Your name or business name will be displayed on a sign that will be prominently posted during the meal and will appear in the program for the event. These sponsors will also be mentioned in future press releases.
  • 3. Donation of products, gift certificates or other items to use as prizes for the Basket Auction which will be held during the dinner following the golf tournament. As a supporter, your name will appear in the program used for the Basket Auction and will be referenced on the basket holding your donation as well.

Please join us on July 20th with the Augustus Family for a Hunterdon County Family Fun Day. All proceeds will go to the renovation of the Augustus family home.

Fun Day & Golfing Costs:

  • - Golf day with lunch and dinner: $ 175
  • - Adult Dinner Only (6pm- 10pm): $40
  • - Family Fun- Pool access and lunch for non-golfers: $20/adult and $15/child

We hope you will help support Paul Augustus and his family.  If you are able to donate, please send your donation to Gretchen Pozarycki, Treasurer, TPASF, 15 Beehive Lane, Flemington, NJ 08822.

Businesses wishing to receive a Sponsor Registration Form can call Anita's Angels, Inc at 908-788-9390 or e-mail anitasangelssc@aol.com.
