You thought that the big Revelation Generation festivities would be big this year. It will be. The annual event is set for two days this year--September 4 and 5 (Saturday and Sunday).
But it really begins Saturday, July 31, in Flemington.
Connections Cafe is hosting the Battle of the Bands in Turntable Junction beginning at 1 p.m. Ten local bands will compete to be included in the Revelation Generation event in September. Bands will be strutting their stuff through the afternoon, and you can vote for your favorite either in person or on the RevGen website. If you attend, there is a $10 admission that gets you an assigned seat, water or coffee, and a voting card.
RevGen, as the big event has become known, last year attracted some 30,000 people. This year it is a two-day affair spread over five stages with some 60 groups performing on September 4 and 5. Music will include rock and heavy metal, jazz, hip hop, Christian and folk music. Tickets can be purchased for either one or both days. The Tewksbury Trail Pace will be held on Sunday, September 19 at Christie Hoffman Farm Park. The course inlcudes fields, hills, streams and some optional jumps. Choose a short 6 mile sourse or a longer 8 mile course.

The Pace is open to adults and juniors (under 17) alike. Fees are $45 adult, $35 junior. Prizes will be awarded and winners get ribbons. The event is sponsored by the Tewksbury Trail Association, and members get a $10 discount. Trail association members maintain more than 100 miles of trails.

Three popular bluegrass bands will give a concert at The Red Mill Village on Saturday, July 31, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tailgaters will be allowed on the grounds beginning at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 adult, $8 seniors, $7 for members, and $6 for children. Call 908 735-4101 x 100.
String Fever produces a show of a well-placed blend of music and humor. Five musicians make up this band--Bruce Jepson on Guitar, Dobro and vocals, Peter Becker on mandolin and vocals, Ridley Enslow on fiddle and vocals, Sandy Joren on bass and vocals, and Mickey Maguire on banjo.
The Travis Wetzel Trio is a dynamic, eclectic, acoustic trio covering many musical styles including jazz, cajun, traditional and contemporary country. Musicians will include Travis Wetzel on fiddle, Bob Harris and Ron Greenstein, both multi-instrumentalists.

The annual Califon Harvest Festival is being held on Sunday, October 3, noon to 4 p.m. at Califon Island Park. Crafters, artists, authors, antique dealers, and other retailers and professionals participate in this family event.

Kimberly Schwabe of Pittstown has been named as the new alumni reporesentative to the Raritan Valley Community College Board of Trustees. Schwabe was elected to the one-year position by the student body.
Schwabe graduated from the college in May. She is planning to continue her major in Psychology and Gerontology at Ramapo College of New Jersey this fall.
While at RVCC, Schwabe was a participant in the NJ STARs program and served as an NJ STARS Ambassador. She also was a member of PHi Theta Kappa, the interinational honor society for two-year college whose members excel in academics, leadership and community service.
The Small Business Development Center, formerly located on the campus of Raritan Valley Community College, has moved to a new site. It is now located at the former Somerset County Technical Institute, 14 Vogt Drive, Bridgewater. The college's Corporate and Continuing Education offices are also located at the new site.
Free business counseling services will be offered in Hunterdon County at the offices of Affinity Federal Credit Union in Flemington. People seeking business counseling services may also go to the new location.
