Stroke Awareness Fair

According to the National Stroke Association, 795,000 strokes
will occur in the United States. A stroke is considered a

has certain risk factors such as high blood pressure, atrial
fibrillation, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, alcohol
consumption, physical inactivity and obesity. The good news

      are:

? Anyone age 70 or older

Or

? 50 or older with 2 or more of the following conditions:

?

When: May 20 @ 6:30pm
Where: Clinton Book Shop

HMC Hosts Blood Pressure Screening at Clinton Book Shop

As part of their Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies lecture
series, Hunterdon Medical Center and the Clinton Book Shop
      will host a blood pressure

screening. This screening will be held on Thursday, May
      20th from

6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Clinton Book Shop located in their new
location on 12 East Main Street in Clinton.

May is blood pressure education month. High blood pressure
that is uncontrolled can injure or kill you. It's sometimes
called "the silent killer" because high blood pressure has no
symptoms, so many people are not aware that it's damaging
their arteries, heart and other organs. Did you know that
69% of Americans who have their first heart attack have blood
pressure over 140/90? Come to this screening and learn what
your numbers are and your risk of having a heart attack or
other diseases. Nicole Camporeale, BSN, Heart and Vascular
Coordinator at Hunterdon Medical Center will conduct the
      screening.

This screening is free of charge. All participants will
receive a guest pass to be used at the Hunterdon Health and
Wellness Centers in Clinton or Whitehouse Station. To
register call the Clinton Book Shop at 908-735-8811.

Press Contact:

Kathleen Seelig, MA

Director of Public Relations

Hunterdon Healthcare

For more information, contact:

When: Apr 20 @ 6:00pm
Where: Hunterdon Medical Center's Office

Hunterdon Medical Center Offers Program:

Time for Lyme Disease

In 1975, Lyme disease originated in Lyme, Connecticut when
large numbers of children were being diagnosed with what
appeared to be juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Researchers
traced the children's signs and symptoms not to arthritis,
but to a bacterial infection transmitted by deer ticks. The
infection was then named Lyme disease.

Lyme disease has spread across the United States but the
disease remains heavily concentrated in the northeast as well
as the upper Midwest and northern California. Hunterdon
Healthcare Partners and Hunterdon Medical Center will host a
program entitled Time for Lyme Disease on Tuesday, April 20th
in the Auditorium at Hunterdon Medical Center.

Registration and a snack will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 6:30
      p.m. and the program will run from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Kathleen Horn, RN, CIC, Director of Infection Control
Services at Hunterdon Medical Center will provide an
      informative presentation on Lyme disease.

Learn the facts about Lyme disease and how to prevent it.

This program will help attendees identify the signs and
