Call for pictures and announcements

Get the word out for your organization, business, event by
using the Eggzack platform. It's FREE! You can put items up
on this site yourself, but if you're unsure how to proceed,
send the info to me in an email, and I'll put it up for you.
Free is always good, but in this economy, free is
      outstanding.

Pictures get more attention than just a wordy announcement.
If you are announcing an open house, send along a picture of
a previous open house, or a picture of the inside of your
place. If you are announcing a garden club meeting or a rug
making session or a how-to event, include a picture. (We
always include attribution and copyright for pictures.
Include this information. Do NOT send pictures you've
downloaded from the internet--unless you own them.)

Make sure your announcements include where, when, who, what,
why and maybe how. If you want people to contact you, always
include a contact name, telephone number, and email address
if available. And always include your website address so that
      readers can find you.

If you're emailing me, send to Wapa1940@aol.com. ALWAYS type
"EGGZACK" in the SUBJECT line as the first word. I get
hundreds of emails because my email address is out there.
Most are deleted, unread, because they have nothing to do
      with Hunterdon County people.

Now, get busy. Print this so you'll have a ready reference
      for the future. Thanks.

Al Warr Wapa1940@aol.com

P.S.: Yes, that's me in the picture. It appeared on my book:
"Hunterdon Folks" and it's copyright Al Warr.

For more information, contact:

Time to clean out that yarn stash

Got yarn left over from that project you never finished? Did
you inherit an attic full of unused yarns? Clean up and clean
out your excess yarn--and do a good deed in the process.

The people in the Social Stichers organization use donated
yarn to knit and crochet blankets and shawls, hats and
scarves, and other useful items. Then, they donate these
things to people who can use them, including the Hunterdon
Medical Center, United Way, nursing homes, and others.

If you have yarn to donate, call Diane at 908 284-0593 or
Merrilee at 908 782-2423 and arrange to have your yarn picked
up. While you're talking with one of them, ask about their
twice-weekly knitting and crocheting sessions in Flemington.
They meet on Monday and Friday afternoons.

For more information, contact:

Make it a local cheese weekend

You might have met Nina and Jonathan White at the Dvoor
(Route 12) Circle Farm Market in Flemington. Or, you might
have tasted their breads and cheeses in Manhattan farm
markets--they regularly attend the Union Square and Lincoln
      Center markets.

For Labor Day weekend, Nina and Jonathan are opening their
Bobolink Dairy Farm to the public. It's located just outside
Milford, and they are still getting settled in at the old
Stamets Farm. There are some 40 cows here, along with other
animals. Then there is the big oven, the bakery, the
creamery, and all the rest you might expect at a big working
farm. They might even take you on a tour of the place.

But the delight comes from the cheeses you will be able to
buy at the farm this weekend. Nina's and Jonathan's Bobolink
Dairy Farm will be open to the public for four days--Friday
through Monday (September 3-6). Hours are Friday noon to 5,
Saturday and Sunday 9 to 5, and Monday 9 to 3. For more
information, go to www.CowsOutside.com. (Photo of Nina and

Mystery, mayhem and murder

If you have an appreciation for the mysterious side of life,
you probably read murder mysteries. It's a popular genre, and
whole sections in stores and libraries are devoted to
      mysteries.

In fact, Flemington has a whole store devoted to these books.
It's called the Moonstone Mystery Book Store, and it's
located on Bloomfield Avenue just off Main. You'll find lots
of mystery books here written by New Jersey and New York
authors, as well as mysteries in English written by foreign
      authors.

The Moonstone Mystery Book Store is the child of Marilyn
Thiele. But it's only one side of a double-header book store
operation. The other side of the place is called Twice Told
Tales. Between the two, there are some 35,000 books here.

Thiele runs reading groups, and if you want to join one--or
create one of your own--talk to her. Call 908 788-9094 or
      email her at twicetoldtales@earthlink.net.

For more information, contact:

Fiber Festival at Fairgrounds

Hunterdon's Sheep & Fiber Festival is set for Saturday
      and Sunday, September 11 - 12, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at
the Fairgrounds. In addition to the many sheep that will be
at this festival, other animals will be on hand--notably,
      llamas and alpacas.

The Garden State Sheep Breeders' Sheep & Fiber Festival
is the largest such gathering in the state. Sheep shearings,
sheep dog herding demonstrations, fleeces for sale, and other
enticements make this 2-day festival one not to be missed.

Admission is $5 per person, $10 per carload or $15 for a

Catch Pantaluna at Frenchtown's RiverFest

"The idea of Pantaluna is to create one-of-a-kind artwear,"
explained Illia Barger. She is an artist with an
international reputation who has established a workshop in
      Frenchtown.

Her artistic reputation is based on the large paintings and
murals she executes. But with her Pantaluna workshop, she has
taken her art to a new level.

Barger and her partner in this venture, Glen Capelle, turn
t-shirts into artwear. First, the designs leap from the
creative juices in Barger's head, then she cuts up cotton
t-shirts. Capelle sews the pieces together to create pants
and skirts of recycled, wearable art.

You can visit the workshop--call 908 996-3213 for hours. Some
of Barger's paintings are currently on display at the Open
Space Gallery on Bridge Street in Frenchtown. Hurry; the
      showing ends Sunday, August 29.

Pantaluna will be taking part in Frenchtown's RiverFest on
September 4-5. For more information, go to www.Pantaluna.com.

For more information, contact:
